Firefly created a travelling exhibition that documented the crafts, makers and processes supported by the Crafts Resource Centre in Bhuj.
The project began with extensive photography across the region. Firefly photographed local crafts, the artisans who made them, their tools, working methods and finished products. The subjects included copper bells, lacquerware, terracotta and several other craft traditions.
The challenge was to turn this material into an exhibition that could travel easily. The displays needed to be light, compact and simple to install without losing the depth of the stories.
Firefly designed a series of retractable pull-up banners for an exhibition in Mumbai. Each banner focused on one craft and combined process photographs, portraits, tools, products and written information within a clear visual structure.
Colours were drawn from the materials and character of each craft. Circular image sequences guided viewers through stages of making, while larger photographs brought the artisans and their work into focus.
The complete exhibition could be installed quickly, dismantled after use and transported for future displays. It created a flexible system for sharing craft knowledge across different venues.
